• Red blood cells carry oxygen. They are formed in the bones.
• Life cycle of red blood cells is from three to four months.
• Every second is killed around two million red blood bodies but the body immediately replace with new ones.

Bones

• Man has 206 bones in the body.
• The smallest human bones are the three tiny bones in each ear. Their task is to transmit sound vibrations from the eardrum to the inner ear. They are called malleus, anvil and stirrup because of characteristic shape.
• The largest bone in the human and the animal body is the femur. It length is from person to person varies slightly, measuring about a quarter of the height.
• The skull is one big, detached bone, but is made up of 22 small bones that are united. The only freely movable bone is lower jaw.

Heart

Heart - the engine of our body

• Heart beats about 100,000 times a day, 36,500,000 times a year.
• The heart of an adult hits about 70 times per minute, slightly faster in women than in men.
• When we are unconscious, only our heart works.

The skin

• Surface of our skin is around 1.5 to 2 square meters and is the largest and heaviest organ of our body.
• All skin of our body weighs approximately ten kilograms.
• Every minute 30-40 thousand dead skin cells falls off of your body.

The brain

• The brain does not feel pain (no pain sensory cells).
• 80% of the brain is water.
• Interestingly the brain is more active when we sleep as during the day when we are active!
• Adult human brain weighs about 1.5 kilograms.
