Bones
- Man has 206 bones in the body.
- The smallest human bones are the three tiny bones in each ear. Their task is to transmit sound vibrations from the eardrum to the inner ear. They are called malleus, anvil and stirrup because of characteristic shape.
- The largest bone in the human and the animal body is the femur. It length is from person to person varies slightly, measuring about a quarter of the height.
- The skull is one big, detached bone, but is made up of 22 small bones that are united. The only freely movable bone is lower jaw.
